Anand has more than 30 years of a meteorical career. In 1985, he became the youngest Indian International Master, in 1987 he won The Junior World Championship and in 1988 he became the first Indian Grandmaster. In 1992 he showed his world leading ambitions by winning a super tournament in Reggio Emilia ahead of Kasparov and Karpov. In 2000 he became Fide World champion and in the year 2007 he finally became an undisputed world champion and held his title for 6 years. In the same year of 2007, he was awarded India's second highest civilian award, the Padma Vibhushan, making him the first sportsperson to receive the award. He is also current World Rapid Chess Champion.
